Diesel Generators

 

  1. Clearances around the machines/between machine and wall.
  2. Cable sizing, Cable terminations, supports, sizing of termination chambers, etc.
  3. Fuel and Lube-Oil handling and disposal arrangement in case of fire, placement of valves, etc.
  4. Generator maintenance practices, existing oil testing/maintenance practices.
  5. Provision of protections on the generators, Interlocks, etc.

Transformers

 

  1. Clearances around the transformers.
  2. HT/LT side Cable sizing, Cable terminations, supports, sizing of termination chambers, etc.
  3. Provision of fire fighting equipment/arrangement.
  4. Oil disposal arrangement in case of fire, placement of valves, (large transformers), etc.
  5. Transformer maintenance practices, existing oil testing/maintenance practices.
  6. Provision of protections on the transformer, accessories, etc.
  7. Study of readings taken.
  8. Provision of ventilation, access in case of fire, escape doors, earthing of doors, etc. (for indoor transformers).
  9. Display of danger notices/boards.
  10. Earthing of fencing/doors, (for outdoor transformers).
  11. Condition of bushing, radiator, oil leakage etc.
  12. Overall condition of installation.

 

HT Switchgear

 

  1. Switchgear sizing, fault level, etc.
  2. Provision of interlocks as required, indication for supply, DC control supply, etc.
  3. Cable termination checks, size of lugs, provision of cable supports, safety barriers, between phase/phase to earth clearances in switchgear panels, etc.
  4. Power/Control cable space provision in the panel, Wiring inside the panel, size, layout, clamping, terminals, space for wiring, etc.
  5. Provision of explosion vents on top.
  6. Review of Maintenance practices, testing procedures for breakers, relays, instruments, etc.
  7. Operating instructions, mounting of switches, instruments, etc.
  8. Dust proof/vermin proof arrangement, heaters for moisture anti-condensation, ammeter for heater to see functioning of heater (good practice for panels working in humid and coastal areas), plugging of unwanted holes.
  9. Ventilation in room, access in case of fire, escape doors, etc.
  10. Provision of protection equipment, earthing rods, rubber mats, fuse pullers, etc.
  11. Display of specific instructions/precautions, wiring diagrams, if required.
  12. Surrounding areas, hazardous/non-hazardous, clearances in rooms and between room and hazardous area, etc.
  13. Display of danger notices/boards and provision of locking in test position for work permit.
  14. Overall condition of total installation.

  7. Ventilation in room, access in case of fire, provision of escape doors, etc.
  8. Display of specific instructions/precautions, if required.

Wiring and Cabling Installation System

 

  1. Method of installation, adequacy of cable trays, trenches
  2. Condition of Cables, end terminations etc.
  3. Condition of ELCB and earth leakage protection for wiring
  4. Maintenance practices followed.
  5. Capacitor conditions

 

 Statutory Compliance

 

  1. Compliance practices for relevant statutory requirements has been provided.

 

  • Indian Electricity Act and Rules, Earthing standards
  • Battery Management Rules
  • Lifts & Escalators Rules
  • Indian Standards, Codes, etc.
  • Hazardous area compliance from electrical safety angle, if any
  • Approval for Plant Layouts/Modifications

 

  1. Visit to the Plant areas for general observation of facility, storage, mechanical installation, electrical installation, etc.
  2. To study compliance provided by the Company, whether it fulfills the requirements laid down under respective statute or not, and to prepare report for the same.
  3. In case wherever compliance not found meeting total requirement, to suggest appropriate measures so as to comply with that specific requirement.
